Just trying to get one last post in before the new year. These are a group of random cats that will appear in the very beginning of the story establishing the father character. I'm finishing some rewriting of the first issue, then it's time to begin laying it out and artwork....gulp!

Big William Baxter
Back after a short absence. It's the holiday season, which means the updates are coming a lot slower. But I did manage to do a color shot of Kit's dad, Big William Baxter. I think I'm ready to start laying out the first issue. I've put it off long enough...

Faces of Kit
I wanted to do a "model sheet" of Kit's face. Trying to work out how he looks at different angles and facial expressions.

Kit poster
This is a piece based on real handbills and posters from the past advertising various music acts. It will eventually be used in part to promote Black Cat Bone. Also available in my cafepress store: http://www.cafepress.com/durkinworks

New Father Design
I just did a new design for Kit's dad. I never was happy with the way he had looked so far. I like this much better.

Cars
This has absolutely nothing to do with Black Cat Bone. I'm just terrible at drawing vehicles. They always look like a shoebox with wheels. I always get caught up in the details and trying to make them look "real". So I thought I would do some from memory, not worrying about straight lines or perspective or accuracy, just have fun and draw some goofy cars. I have to say I learned something here. Sometimes you just need to loosen up, have fun and trust your instincts, you may be pleased with the results....

Logo and synopsis
BLACK CAT BONE
The history, legend and folklore of American Blues music in the 20th century as told through the life of Kit "Blue-Eye" Baxter, a black cat
Well, there it is. That's basically what the story is about. So I figure it will be at least 10 issues, and then eventually compliled into one book.
